7-12 WINTER ATHLETIC REGISTRATION NIGHTS
Beginning with the winter sports season, all 7-12 grade athletic registrations will now be completed online at JCS. To help families with this new process, there will be two registration nights for parents to receive information and assistance:
• Wednesday, November 5th – 5:30–6:30 p.m.
• Monday, November 10th – 5:30–6:30 p.m.
At least one parent or guardian for each athlete must attend one of the two sessions.
The process will take approximately 15–20 minutes.
Please remember:
• A current physical must be on file before participation can be approved.
• If your student does not have a current physical on file, please bring a copy to the registration night.
Thank you for your cooperation as we move to this new and more efficient registration system.

Jefferson Central School
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Seal a Smile Oral Health Services, a free dental preventative care group, will be coming to Jefferson Central School at the end of October. They provide dental cleanings, dental sealants, dental screenings, fluoride treatments and classroom education on dental hygiene and care. If tooth decay is noted during the exam, Seal a Smile will notify you and help you to coordinate a visit to a dental practice. Families are not charged for these services even if you have dental insurance or see another dental provider.
Facts about dental health:
Oral health can affect the rest of your health. Bacteria in your mouth can cause endocarditis (a heart infection) and contribute to heart conditions.
Buildup of plaque on the teeth can lead to gum inflammation and loss of teeth.
Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease and is almost always preventable.
Oral disease can cause pain and infections that lead to problems with eating, speaking, and learning, while also affecting social interactions.
A consent form has been sent home to all elementary students, that needs to be returned to the school nurse if you wish to have your child receive dental services through Seal a Smile. This is available to all High School Students, consent forms are outside the Health Office. If you have any further questions please contact the nurse, Mrs. Brandow at 607-652-1259.

Dear Parents,
Cold weather is upon us and we want to make sure that your child is dressed for the weather and ready to play at recess. For this fall weather please make sure that your child has a coat, not just a hoodie. When the temperature starts to drop consistently, your child should come to school prepared with a
Coat
Snow pants
Snow boots
Hat
Gloves/mittens
It is recommended that you label your child's belongings with their last name so that there is no confusion. Children may wear their snow boots to school but must have a pair of sneakers to change into for the school day/ gym. If you need help acquiring any of these items please contact the school nurse at (607) 652-1259.

We are pleased to share some exciting news from our school as we reflect on a remarkable week of achievement and pride here at Jefferson Central School.
This past week, our VEX Robotics Team had the incredible opportunity to compete at the state level in Syracuse at the SRC Arena. Our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving skills, representing JCS with pride. The experience was both educational and inspiring for everyone involved, and we couldn’t be more proud of their dedication and effort.
In addition, our Girls Varsity Basketball Team has had an outstanding season and will be playing this Saturday at SUNY Delhi in the Section IV Championship. This is a significant accomplishment, and we are all looking forward to supporting them as they compete for the title. Their hard work and perseverance have truly paid off, and regardless of the outcome, we are incredibly proud of their success and commitment.
Lastly, we are thrilled to announce that one of our very own students is participating in the prestigious Burger Battle at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. This event provides a fantastic platform for aspiring chefs, and we are excited to see our student showcase their culinary talents among some of the best in the state.
It has truly been a week full of excitement and achievement, and we couldn’t be more proud of the talent, dedication, and spirit shown by our students and athletes. We are grateful to have such a supportive community that encourages and celebrates these accomplishments. We look forward to all the great things yet to come.
Thank you for your continued support of Jefferson Central School District. Together, we are fostering a culture of excellence, and we are excited for the future!

Important message from the JCSD Board of Education
Dear JCS Community,
With the announcement of the shared service agreement with South Kortright
Central School for superintendent services, the JCS Board of Education wanted
to give everyone some more details.
Starting out, this is a 15 month pilot of a shared superintendent model. At the end
of the pilot there is the option to extend, if mutually agreed upon by all parties.
Please rest assured that all existing shared services and agreements with all
other districts remain unchanged. This includes our partnership with Stamford for
athletics. All of Dr. Ceng's duties and responsibilities at Jefferson will still be
required of him to perform.
Now for the changes to expect. Dr. Ceng will be splitting his time in the building
with South Kortright. His presence in our district will be less but he is to remain
available for consultation as the need arises. The most important change will be
the significant savings the district will realize. We listened to the taxpayers and
their wishes to save in this area. This is the most efficient way to accomplish it.
We understand that the lack of details prior to the signed agreement can be
frustrating. Due to the legal circumstances of one and or both districts,
confidentiality had to remain intact throughout the process.
We will always have the best interest of the students, faculty, staff and taxpayers
as a top priority. If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out via
email at
boe@jeffersoncsd.org
Sincerely,
Jessica Hendrickson
